Samsung Z320i preview
UPDATE The full review of this phone is now up in the reviews section: Samsung Z320i review .
DISCLAIMER: This ‘review’ is simple a run-down of features based on a draft version of the phone’s technical specs. We’ve not yet seen a Z320i in the flesh (so to speak), so this information is for the curious only!
- Of course, the Z320 is the first 3G i-mode phone, with video calling.
- It appears that the Z320 will NOT have a memory card slot. Just USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
- There is a dual 1.3MP camera (Super Fine resolution 1280×1024).
- The phone weighs in at 95g, a little heavier than the S500i (though I’d take the tech spec weight with a larger than usual pinch of salt—they’ve not been all that reliable so-far).
- The screen size is considerably smaller than the S500i, coming in at 176×220 pixels (compared to 240×320 for the S500i).
- The Access i-mode browser is the same version as the one included with the S500i—presumably with none of the bugs fixed.
- No Flash Lite support.
- Increased cache size of 100kB, the largest I’ve seen on any i-mode phone so-far.
- Support for mpeg4 video.
So overall, this phone actually looks to be a little less sophisticated than the S500i. No Flash Lite support or memory card slot is baffling, considering this phone is taking longer to release than the S500i. Some people will definitely prefer the slider look—though this seems to be at the expense of screen size. Shame.
A dual 1.3MP camera sounds … interesting too. Stay tuned for more information as and when we get it!
